The impact of Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh’s assassination Wednesday by Israel in a targeted strike in Iran remains uncertain, FRANCE 24’s Angela Diffley said in an analysis. While Hamas has vowed revenge, whether the war in Gaza would evolve to become a wider regional conflict “depends on how Iran might react”, Diffley said, adding that “it’s not clear that they would be willing to risk so much for the Palestinian cause”.
