French voters surged to the polls Sunday in the first round of high-stakes early parliamentary elections called by President Emmanuel Macron earlier this month after dissolving the French parliament. Galvanised by the possibility of change in the makeup of the National Assembly, voters turned out in high numbers to cast their ballots at the urns, FRANCE 24’s Antonia Kerrigan said, reporting from Paris.
